HOMEWORK POLICY Effective Date: Dear , At {{school_name}}, we believe homework plays an important role in reinforcing classroom learning and developing independent study habits. This letter outlines our homework expectations. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ EXPECTATIONS BY YEAR GROUP Year 7–8: 30–60 minutes per day, 3–4 tasks per week Year 9–10: 60–90 minutes per day, 4–5 tasks per week Year 11: 90–120 minutes per day, focused exam revision All year groups: • Reading: minimum 20 minutes per day • Spellings/vocabulary: weekly lists issued every Monday ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT • Provide a quiet, well-lit space for homework • Set a regular homework routine each evening • Check ClassCharts/Google Classroom for pending tasks • Encourage reading by discussing books together • Contact the school if homework is causing undue stress ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ MISSED HOMEWORK PROCEDURE If homework is not submitted: 1. Student receives a reminder from the teacher 2. Work must be completed within 48 hours 3. Repeated non-completion results in a detention 4. Persistent issues are referred to the Head of Year We understand that circumstances vary.
