For student conflicts, the standard resolution is to reschedule one of the affected exams to a different time slot or day. The rescheduled exam should be at least one day after the original date to allow adequate preparation.

Document every change to the published timetable. Maintain a change log that records what was changed, when, who approved it, and who was notified. This documentation is essential for dispute resolution and regulatory compliance.

Building Resilient Exam Timetables

Resilient timetables anticipate problems. Build two to three contingency time slots into your schedule — empty slots that can absorb unexpected exam additions or rescheduling needs.

Distribute exam load evenly across the examination period. A timetable with five exams on Monday and one on Friday is less resilient than one with two exams each weekday. Even distribution reduces the impact of any single disruption.
